Tao Te Ching
The Tao Te Ching is universally ascribed to Laozi (Old Master)
The Tao Te Ching, together with I Ching (The book of Changes), is one of the most important writings within Taoism.
In chapter 56 entitled "Impartiality" we find the opening sentence One who knows does not speak; one who speaks does not know.
Next to Confucianism and Buddhism, Taoism is the one of the three most important Chinese philosophies.
As far as known the book dates back to the 6th century BC and was transfered from mouth to mouth and around 300 BC written down.
The book consists of 81 short texts that cover both ontological (study of conceptions of reality and the nature of being) and ethical aspects of life.
This for us is important as this was used in the lyrics of Sacrilegium:
THEY WHO KNOW, DO NOT SPEAK!
As you might know or not know Mr.Doctor is a Doctor in philosophy and to understand Devil Doll and THE MAN, one must know philosophy and its writings.
THEY WHO TALK, DO NOT KNOW!
